Water is a vital resource. Without it, we can’t exist, and neither can any other known form of life. And yet, current water management practices are unsustainable. Water demand is dramatically on the rise, while the global supply of fresh water is decreasing. As the global population explodes, the demand for water is skyrocketing. At the same time, the water supply is shrinking, due to depleted aquifers, pollution, and climate change. The world is facing a water crisis.

The world’s oceans contain 97% of the water on Earth, but we can’t drink that water, unless we remove the salt. That’s desalination: the removal of salt from water.
Desalination can be used to remove salt from:
> Seawater
> Brine (which has more dissolved solids than seawater)
> Brackish water (which has fewer dissolved solids than seawater)
> Brine (which has more dissolved solids than seawater)
> Brackish water (which has fewer dissolved solids than seawater)
Desalination has quite a few applications, including supplying water for drinking, agriculture, industry, development, and recreation.
